    2022 Fall

    Leann Altice

    Internship Description

    Industry: Optometric

    Company: Blacksburg Eye Associates

    Location: Blacksburg, Virgina

    Semester: 2022 Fall

    Paid/unpaid: Unknown

Summary: As a patient care technician, my responsibilities primarily revolve around pretesting tasks before patients meet with the doctors. This includes performing any necessary imaging procedures, collecting patients' medical history, and conducting dilation workups. Dilation workups involve a series of tests and measurements to ensure the eyes are healthy enough for dilation. If they are, I'm responsible for selecting the appropriate dilation drops and administering them to the patient's eyes.

    2021 Winter

    Jennifer Noelizaire

    Internship Description

    Industry: Healthcare

    Company: Centra, Virginia Baptist Hospital

    Location: Lynchburg, Virgina

    Semester: 2021 Winter

    Paid/unpaid: Unknown

Summary: Hi, my name is Jen, and I want to share my experience during my physical therapy internship. I had the amazing opportunity to intern at Virginia Baptist Hospital's outpatient rehab center in my hometown. My main focus was on functional tasks, and I worked closely with two fantastic therapists. We worked on various exercises, including static and dynamic balance training, as well as core interventions. It was an enjoyable and fulfilling experience. If you're looking for a similar internship, my advice would be to conduct thorough research, update your resume, email the internship coordinator directly, maintain professionalism, ask questions, and most importantly, have fun and make the most of the learning opportunities.
