Doubles

This exercise can double (pun intended) as a Speed it Up exercise, though it isn’t nearly as thorough nor as efficient as the others. But it is great for getting runs (or other similar spots) into your fingers.

  1. Play each note in the run twice starting down bow, 3x.
  2. Do step 1 again 3x but start up bow.

EXAMPLES

Elliott Carter: Elegy, 1964

F. A. Hoffmeister: Concerto for Viola and Orchestra, c. 1790
First movement: Allegro
