Kristina Horrocks

Dr. Kristina Horrocks joined the music faculty of Brigham Young University–Idaho in 2017, teaching applied viola and music theory. Dr. Horrocks was awarded her Doctorate of Musical Arts in Viola Performance and Certificate of Graduate Studies in Music Theory Pedagogy from the University of Michigan–Ann Arbor. She earned her Master of Music and Bachelor of Musical Arts from BYU and BYU–Idaho respectively. In addition to her university pursuits, Dr. Horrocks has been teaching young violists and violinists for 22 years as a trained and certified Suzuki teacher. As a performer, Dr. Horrocks has been a member of several professional orchestras and chamber groups. She has performed with orchestras around the U.S., Europe, and China, and is now a member of Serenata Strings, the BYU–Idaho faculty string ensemble. Dr. Horrocks lives with her husband and two children in Sugar City, ID. Her greatest joys include reading, spending time with her family, and enjoying the great outdoors.
